Global Readiness: Challenges for Our Youth

Council on Foreign Relations President Richard Haass' keynote address at the 2012 FOX Fall Forum looked at how to prepare younger generations to succeed in a more global world.

• Globalization is the defining feature of our time and yet Americans know less about the world than ever before. 
• The United States must set national standards for K-12 education. 
• Private capital investment in curriculum/materials needed. 
• The college level core curriculum should include requirements for history and civics. 
• Technology changes have made it necessary to rethink education to emphasize lifelong learning.
