Families Who Text, Tweet and Pin

Overview

According to Pew Research, in February 2005, just 8% of internet users, or 5% of all adults, said they used social networking sites, compared to 67% of online adults who were using social networking sites as of June 2013. Elmore DeMott knows firsthand the benefits and challenges of social media for professional and personal use. She capitalized on Facebook to build her photography business and she regularly braves new social media platforms so she can keep up with (and ahead of) her teenage daughters. Elmore believes strongly that social media offers many benefits to families, especially as they try to strengthen communications across multiple generations. In this article, Pitcairn asked her to share her experiences, caveats, and suggestions for families seeking to make the most of social media.
