There are currently more than 1,000 cryptocurrencies with a combined market capitalization of over $400 billion dollars. In the grand scheme of things, they represent a relatively small portion of the global economy. However, these alternative, digital currencies continue to generate a significant amount of buzz among curious investors. As an investment, the risks still outweigh the possible advantages.
