2014 Investment Strategy Outlook

Atlantic Trust Private Wealth Management expects the investment landscape to be quite different in the year ahead as the bull market matures, the Fed shifts strategy and the global economy moves further away from the crisis-ridden environment that has prevailed since 2007. Some other insights:

• They expect 2014 to be a profitable year in the equity markets, but more of a two-way street than the powerful bull surge investors enjoyed in 2013. 
• Despite a global economic expansion, rising corporate profits and reasonable valuations, they expect higher volatility and more muted returns in 2014. 
• Given that equities now hover around fair value, along with a likely high single-digit earnings growth path, they believe that a return closer to the S&P 500 Index’s long-term average of 10% is a reasonable expectation for 2014.
