Collaborative persuasion is important. Communication dynamics are not simple, and in fact quite complex. 65-85% of communication is non-verbal. The channel of communication is also important. Not having a clear understanding of how to reach others can be disruptive.
For family discussions - plan ahead to ensure techniques that facilitate effective communication are utilized. Reflect on your place in the family legacy. Influence others to test drive an idea.
Storytelling can be powerful. Understand the different ways to tell a story that engages and keeps the attention of your family.
Manage your personal brand with the family.
Self-awareness: recognize your own emotions, know your strengths and weaknesses, show self-confidence, and observe how you feel and react to situations.
Self-management: control impulsive feelings and behaviors, manage emotions in healthy ways, take initiative, follow through on commitments, and adapt to changing circumstances
Social Awareness: observe and understand the needs and concerns of others, comprehend non-verbal and emotional cues, recognize power dynamics in a group, and feel and display empathy.
Relationship management: develop and maintain good relationships across the family.
In order to get traction: Understand how you can most influence others. Test drive your ideas before delivering. Understand and manage family dynamics.
