VP Finance and Accounting

Goodfellow Bros. is a 100-year-old, 4th generation family-owned business, operating all over the West Coast and known for its extensive presence in the Hawaiian Islands. Our sister company, Pacific Rim Land, Inc. (PRL), is a private real estate investment, development and management company founded in 1990, with offices in Hawaii and Washington. PRL and its affiliates invest in a variety of real estate assets including residential, hotel, retail and vacant land, primarily in Hawaii and the U.S. West Coast.

Pacific Rim Land is searching for a qualified candidate to fill an opening for Vice President of Finance and Accounting. This position can either be located in Wenatchee, Washington, or Maui, Hawaii.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the PRL President, this executive will oversee the financial and accounting functions of Pacific Rim Land, Inc. and the various affiliated entities it manages as well as many of the Family Office affairs. The VP Finance & Accounting will direct all aspects of accounting operations, oversee all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, financial reporting, and lending. This person will manage federal and state tax compliance and tax strategy for the various companies and individual family members. The ideal candidate will have exceptional financial and business acumen, executive presence and interpersonal skills, and will bring commercial judgment, creativity, and proven leadership to the PRL team.

Essential Functions:

Accounting Management

  • Manage all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Manage a team of accounting specialists including investment manager, controller, accounts payable, accounts receivable and accounting clerks.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensure that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Coordinate, prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Oversee the family office functions including financial tracking and reporting of numerous external investments.
  • Analyze company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets.

Tax Management

  • Manage all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes.
  • Stay abreast of changing tax laws and the impacts of legislation on the various businesses.
  • Coordinate estate planning and trust management with family members and external consultants.

Financial Management

  • Coordinate and manage relationships with lending/financial institutions.
  • Providing strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company investments.
  • Prepare real estate development budget, pro forma financial statements and other supporting financial information for the real estate development team.
  • Oversee the management of cash flow and cash balances in the various entities
  • Interact with investment partners and family members.
  • Manage relationships with insurance providers and ensure compliance.
  • Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to PRL President and family members.
  • Other finance and administrative duties as required.

Education, Experience, and Technical Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. CPA and/or CMA preferred but not required, MBA a plus.
  • 10 plus years of accounting and financial management experience.
  • Must have computer experience using Microsoft Office. Beneficial if candidate has an understanding of Quickbooks and FundCount software applications.
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean abstract required
