VP Director of Family Shareholder Relations
Meaningful Work From Day One
Primary point of contact between Brown-Forman Corporation and the Brown family. Partners with Chair of the Board of Directors to develop best in class governance that is devoted to ensuring on-going and consistent engagement between the Brown family and the Company. As part of this work, we create and deploy development programs that aim to foster partnership, advocacy, and engagement around the most long-term and strategic ambitions of the Company. In addition, the role serves as a key partner for all family facing communication projects.

Family Governance: Support and strengthen the well established framework that defines the family’s relation with the company which therefore helps Brown-Forman thrive as an attractive investment, a quality producer, a preferred employer, a trusted partner, and a valued member of our communities.
- In Conjunction with the CEO & Chair, develops annual Brown family / Brown-Forman Family Shareholder Committee Agenda
- Guided by the Family Employment Protocol, provide coaching and career management support for current and prospective family employees, including interns.
- Responsible for staying abreast of best in class multi-generational family governance and the continuing evolution of the Brown-Forman / Brown Family governance.
Family Shareholder Education: Develops fluency on essential topics through a lifelong education curriculum including:
- Ownership: develops the skills and tools necessary to preserve, protect and grow the family’s legacy and stewardship of Brown-Forman and why this is of critical importance to maintaining the strength of the family-company relationship.
- Governance: focuses on policies, processes and guidelines that facilitate shareholder engagement with the company
- Family and Community: fosters a connection between the family’s past and its future, the evolution of its values and purpose, and how these are expressed in the communities in which they live and work.
- Brown-Forman & Beverage Alcohol Industry: provides a comprehensive understanding of and engagement with Brown-Forman and the beverage alcohol industry
Family Engagement: Develops trusted relationships with key members of 4th, 5th and now 6th generation. Responsible for the development of communications and events that enhance levels of engagement between family members and the family members with the company.

Board Family Succession planning: Works closely with Chair of the Board of Directors, CEO & executive coach to develop comprehensive development / on-boarding plan for new Family Directors
- In conjunction with Family Shareholders Committee, Next Generation Committee and key B-F stakeholders helps lead in the creation of robust next generation engagement pathway for emerging Brown Family members with long-term aspirations of meaningful employment and/or Board service
What You Bring to the Table
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required, with a concentration in Education, Business, Economics, or Finance preferred.
- Knowledge of PLFC governance requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of related experience in a business environment
- Highly influential connector and collaborator.
- Strong ability to work in a matrixed, cross-functional organization.
- Emotional Intelligence: Exceptionally strong relationship-building and communication skills; comfortable with a wide range of people, interests, and ages
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and coordinating the efforts of teams across an organization.
- Deep sense of personal responsibility, combined with a strong attention to detail and organization with awareness of the biggest priorities and risks.
- Demonstrates a high level of autonomy, initiative and independence
- Strong integrity and discretion to ensure strong trust among stakeholder partners.
- Ability to manage deliverables to internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Chair of the Board of Directors and CEO
- Solid understanding of business strategies, objectives, and performance
- An innovative mindset and desire and ability to drive change or break convention when things can be done better, faster, etc.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
