Senior Tax Accountant

 

A small legal, financial and tax services company (known as a “family office”) located in downtown Baltimore seeks a Senior Tax Accountant. The clients of this company are all members of a single large philanthropic family. The family office offers services including tax planning and compliance, estate planning and administration, accounting, and investment oversight.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, CPA
  • 5+ years’ experience preparing and reviewing individual income tax returns for high net worth clients
  • Exposure to trust and estate tax preparation preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products, knowledge of Quickbooks and tax preparation software (ProsystemFX)

  • Proven ability to work with discretion and confidential information
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Efficient computer skills, eager to implement new technologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review complex individual income tax returns
  • Assist in preparation of information required for annual trust tax filings, coordinate with third-party tax preparers, and review trust tax returns prepared by preparers
  • Plan and implement tax strategies and cost savings for individuals and related businesses
  • Remain current on new tax legislation
  • Compliance with payroll obligations for household employees
  • General accounting for small business and investment entities
  • Perform other duties as required
