Senior Private Accountant


Hallmark is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled Senior Accountant to join our growing team.  This role is for someone with a love of numbers and a keen eye for attention to detail.  Strong communication skills are essential as is your flair to work in a fast-paced environment.  
 
Responsibilities include:
 
  • Reporting all financial activity for clients
  • Evaluate internal controls and business processes to identify process improvements
  • Prepare/review of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages
  • Be able to take the lead on required filings by executing processes and adhering to deadlines
  • Research complex issues and suggest resolutions
  • Understand and interpret state laws as they relate to the business
  • Complete professional development courses as required
  • Communicate effectively and timely via email, phone and meetings
  • Assist with special projects as necessary
  • Provide guidance to other accounting staff
  • Work well under pressure
  • Examine a variety of accounting documents to verify accuracy of computations
  • Ensure transactions are in accordance with applicable authority, policies, procedures and recorded consistently
  • Able to understand complex reconciliations and complete simplified reconciliations for audits

Charitable and Crown manages a sophisticated investment portfolio, financial reporting, tax compliance and other services for its clients.  Clients include individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts and private foundations.
 
Working in the accounting area of Charitable and Crown has a similar feel to working in a small public accounting firm, while at the same time offering the benefits of working for a large corporation like Hallmark.  There are always new issues that offer the opportunity to learn.  The Senior Accountant will work with a team of professionals, and learn from a variety of people of varying educational backgrounds including legal, tax, and investment.  Our Senior Accountant needs to bring energy, a positive attitude and a deliver results in a way that everyone says “I want to work with that person!”

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5+ years of Accounting or Finance experience 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant or Eligible for CPA Exam
  • Knowledge of trusts, accounting, reconciliations, general ledger, systems, banking and projects. Ability to prepare and present financial statements and supporting documentation
  • Accounting experience within a family office or trust company
  • Practical experience in financial transaction processing, trusts or banking
  • Strong people skills – able to work effectively with a diverse mix of team members
  • Demonstrates a mastery of complex financial and accounting concepts including the ability to translate those concepts into simple explanations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Consistently professional in demeanor and communication
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills, with ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and accurately manage details while working both independently and with a variety of people
  • High degree of professionalism, including being flexible, calm, positive, discrete, and has the ability to work independently
  • Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates mature judgment about what can be shared
  • Exemplary personal leadership, including a will to win as a team, high level of personal accountability and learning agility; must have a positive attitude and be a motivated self-starter
  • Strong technical acumen to successfully work in a variety of systems and with a variety of technologies; proactively leverages technology to work smarter and produce better results
