Senior Investment Analyst

The Senior Investment Analyst is responsible for a wide range of investment-related research and analytical processes, reporting those findings to Vogel's Investment Committee, and preparing various reports and asset allocations for client-specific reporting and recommendations.  

Education and/or Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a relevant business field; and 5-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Chartered Financial Analyst certification (completed) required.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Summarizes data describing trends in investment risks and economic influences pertinent to investments
  • Prepares financial market overview and analysis and topical research in formats suitable for client presentations and the firm’s Investment Committee
  • Makes appropriate recommendations that will best meet the client’s needs
  • Communicates strategy implementation and general strategy discussions with the client service teams
  • Cultivates relationships with current and prospective Investment clients; serve as primary support contact for current clients
  • Communicates current market strategies and portfolio updates to assigned clients
  • Gathers and analyzes information to complete due diligence for long-only money manager and private equity fund selection, as well as ongoing monitoring including meeting with managers
  • Assists with preparation of reports, research and analytical findings to be presented to Vogel's Investment Committee in written, numerical and graphical form
  • Participates in decision-making process with the Investment Committee on investment vehicles; aligns those selections with the firm's overall goals and clients’ risk tolerance
  • Drafts and revises strategic and tactical asset allocation models and specific client asset allocations
  • Prepares reports and research for client meetings
  • Ensures that all investment analytics are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws governing investment research and investment advisory services

Supervisory Responsibilities
Regularly supervises one or more firm members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word; advanced Excel skills desired.  Individuals will also use the following specialty software packages:  Morningstar, Per Trac, eVestment, and Visual Practice Management highly desirable.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret specialized business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a group or manager, clients, customers, and other employees. Must submit a writing sample to be considered.
