Senior Investment Accountant
Our family office is seeking to hire a Senior Investment Accountant to handle the day-to-day investment accounting and reporting functions and support the team with other accounting and finance responsibilities of multiple entities managed by WFO. In addition, this person can expect to have exposure to the investment research process as new direct (e.g., public equities and direct private investments) and external (e.g., Venture Capital and Private Equity) investment opportunities become available. This is an exciting opportunity to work at a growing family office and this role will report directly to the Director of Investment Research and the Senior Controller. Solid accounting knowledge, independent judgment, confidence, and good communication skills (both verbal and written) are vital to succeed in this role. Strong computer skills including Excel and accounting software/ERP are required. Cross training into different accounting functions will be offered.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate books and records of all investment transactions in accounting software and wealth management platform, Addepar, for multiple entities managed by WFO
- Prepare investment performance, asset change, and other ad hoc reports on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Assist Director of Investment Research with ad-hoc analysis, research projects, and preparation of investment presentations.
- In coordination with the Director of Investment Research and Sr. Controller, manage the Dry Powder Report which projects investment inflows and outflows and thus informs future investment decisions
- Handle capital calls, distributions, and KYC requests from external investment funds
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the department workflows and internal controls
- Assist with various month-end closing responsibilities, including accounting entry adjustments, consolidated cash report preparation, related entities reconciliation, etc.
- Assist in preparation of year-end fund investment confirmation letters for all family offices entities
- Prepare journal entries to true-up investment balances in accordance with the confirmation letters
- Assist with gathering and tracking documents required for tax return preparation with tax service provider
- Assist the Senior Controller and Assistant Controller on special projects as directed
- Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in full-cycle accounting
- Interested in the financial markets and desire to learn about investment research and analysis
- Comprehensive Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (proficient in Excel highly preferred) and experience with different ERP systems/accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Addepar, etc.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, deliver high-quality results and be flexible in handling changing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Exceptional work ethic and a positive “can-do” attitude
- Self-starter who can work independently under minimal supervision
- Must have good organizational skills with attention to details
- Great team player with good communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in a high net-worth family office or investment fund is a plus
- Adhere to the highest level of confidentiality
