Senior Accountant - Trusts and Family Clients

Seaside Ohana Investments, Inc. (SOI) is a single-family office serving a multi-generational family with a full range of financial services. The Family Office has offices in Honolulu and Denver. Job Summary:
Seaside Ohana Investments, Inc. (SOI), is seeking a self-directed accountant with a strong work ethic and high standards for excellence to work in our Family Office. The Senior Accountant – Trusts and Family Clients will prepare and review accounting records and financial statements for various individuals and trusts. The Senior Accountant – Trusts and Family Clients will support the treasury function for the trusts, the preparation of tax return workpapers for trusts and family clients, and assist with financial planning.
Duties of the Senior Accountant – Trusts and Family Clients:
- Oversee bill payment and cash management for multiple trusts and individuals.
- Prepare and review financial statements, including journal entries and supporting documentation.
- Periodically participate in financial review meetings with Family Office clients and assist with preparing meeting materials.
- Prepare and review cash projections for individuals and trusts to identify shortfalls or investment opportunities.
- Maintain quarterly net worth statements with external consultant and review performance reports for reasonableness.
- Work with the entity team to coordinate quarterly investor contributions, distributions, and transfers within investment funds. Ensure communication with relevant banks.
- Track and initiate capital calls for investments.
- Assist family clients with financial transactions like purchasing or selling a home, obtaining financing, etc…
- Develop a basic understanding of the different types of investments held in investment funds.
- Assist with the preparation and assembly of tax workpapers for income tax returns for individuals and trusts.
- Read and interpret and summarize key legal terms from documents such as trusts and operating agreements.
Desired Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting required.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a CPA or similar firm, or trust department of a bank, with financial statement and/or trust accounting preparation experience.
- Family Office and tax experience a plus.
- Supervisory experience.
- CPA preferred.
- CFP or PFS a plus, but not required.
- Ability to read and analyze complex financial information and other day to day correspondence and take appropriate action.
- Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) with Family Office management and family member clients of varying financial experience, banking/investment teams, external accountants, attorneys, and consultants.
- Strong organization skills to complete all accounting work efficiently and effectively within appropriate deadlines and with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical skills with a willing to improve processes.
- Strong technology skills preferred with proficiency in Excel (advanced), Word, PowerPoint and QuickBook Enterprise (Desktop).
- Positive, service-oriented attitude towards Family Office clients, fellow team members, and other service providers.
- Self-directed with a good work ethic and standards for excellence.
