Senior Accountant - Entities
The Company:
Seaside Ohana Investments, Inc. (SOI) is a single-family office serving a multi-generational family with a full range of financial services. The Family Office has offices in Honolulu and Denver. The position is in the Honolulu office. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-state team serving a fun and family-oriented client base.
Job Summary:
Seaside Ohana Investments, Inc. (SOI), is seeking a self-directed accountant with a strong work ethic and high standards for excellence to work in our Family Office. The Senior Accountant - Entities will prepare and review the accounting records and financial statements for various corporations, partnerships, and other entities. The Senior Accountant - Entities will also support the administration of investment funds and the preparation of workpapers for tax returns.
Duties of the Senior Accountant - Entities:
- Oversee bill payment and cash management for multiple entities.
- Prepare and review financial statements, including journal entries and supporting documentation. Manage the annual review of financial statements with an external accounting firm.
- Prepare and review cash projections for accuracy, and to proactively identify shortfalls or investment opportunities.
- Work with controller to prepare annual budgets and forecasts, including for the five-year strategic planning process.
- Review investment fund accounting prepared by external accounting firm; reconcile to internal records to ensure accuracy
- Work with controller on the oversight of the annual valuation of the Company with an external appraiser.
- Calculate quarterly distributions from various investment funds.
- Coordinate quarterly investor contributions, distributions, and transfers within investment funds and communicate to external accounting firm and relevant banks.
- Track and initiate capital calls for investments.
- Develop a basic understanding of the different types of investments held in investment funds.
- Track and gather Schedule K-1’s from investments to be used for tax return preparation. Assist with the preparation of tax return workpapers.
- Review general excise tax returns for entities.
- Report payroll information to PEO and maintain time tracking and billing system.
Desired Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting required.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a CPA or similar firm with financial statement preparation experience.
- Family office experience a plus.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- CPA preferred.
- Ability to read and analyze complex financial information and other day to day correspondence and take appropriate action.
- Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) with Family Office management and Family Office clients of varying financial experience, banking/investment teams, external accountants, attorneys, and consultants.
- Strong organization skills to complete all accounting work efficiently and effectively within appropriate deadlines and with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical skills with a willingness to improve processes and internal controls.
- Strong technology skills preferred with proficiency in Excel (super user), Word, PowerPoint, and QuickBooks Enterprise (Desktop).
- Positive, service-oriented attitude towards Family Office clients, fellow team members, and other service providers.
- Self-directed with a good work ethic and standards for excellence.
