Senior Accountant

The family office serves on a confidential basis the financial and personal needs of a single multigenerational family.

The Senior Accountant will be assigned a variety of accounting, analysis, tax preparation and bookkeeping work necessary to meet the needs of the company.  Duties will include activities primarily for individuals and trusts and the Senior Accountant will report to the CFO.

The Position

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Cash Management Oversight
    • Oversee cash transfers (bill pay) and deposits
    • Monitor and reconcile bank account statements
    • Track budgets against monthly liquidity needs
  • General Ledger
    • Manage best practices for the internal accounting system for entities and individuals
    • Maintain chart of accounts and books and records for all individuals
    • Prepare journal entries and download bank transactions into QuickBooks
    • Link balance sheets for individuals to investment performance reporting software
    • Maintain cost basis for properties
  • Financial Statements and Investment Analyses
    • Work with CFO to prepare customized personal cash flow and net worth statements
    • Create investment reports and analyses from the investment performance reporting software
    • Prepare other reports and analyses as requested
  • Tax Preparation
    • Work with Partners to collect tax information and facilitate communications with outside tax accounting firm
    • Review tax returns and research miscellaneous tax questions
    • Track charitable contributions and gifts

Education and Experience Requirements

A four-year degree, preferably in accounting, with a minimum of four years of related work experience is required.  CPA preferred and Big 4 and family office experience a plus.  Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is essential. A general knowledge of taxes is preferred.  

This position requires high attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to work on a variety of tasks. Personally, the candidate should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. He/she will exhibit strong personal motivation, a high level of initiative and should be personable, persuasive, responsive and results-oriented.  The Senior Accountant must be able to use complete discretion regarding the interests of the Partners and office personnel, and understand the need for confidentiality and privacy.
