SUMMARY

On behalf of our client, we are looking to fill the role of President, Operations which will have overall accountability, responsibility, authority, and management for the client’s group of companies and family activities (“the Group”).

We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on individual who is experienced in navigating a small, but complex, team. This is a strategic leadership role that oversees and manages the team, operations and budget in accordance with the strategic plan and objectives adopted and approved by the Board of Directors. The successful candidate will have a deep appreciation and understanding of family dynamics and life complexity as well as proven experience and history in service-oriented positions. This position will provide leadership, planning, and execution while following an annual planned and approved budget.

In addition, the President will serve as a key spokesperson between the client and all staff. It is expected that this position will provide strategic guidance and innovative thinking on all aspects of the Group to maintain cost control and maximize value. This is a fast-paced environment with an evolving set of expectations and priorities that will require a person with a unique skillset, the ability to be decisive, superb communication skills and a high level of emotional intelligence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain the privacy of the family and all their activities. A legally binding Confidentiality Agreement and a successful background check process are required;
  • Work with the Board of Directors to determine strategy and communicate to the staff;
  • Develop and manage effective working relationships with cross-functional teams, managers, key internal and external stakeholders;
  • Build on and foster a company culture that aligns with the Group’s core values;
  • Coordinate and work with the applicable stakeholders when acquiring and divesting of assets and properties as necessary;
  • Review budgets, plans, and timelines for all renovations, major repairs, and beautification projects to ensure time and budget deliverables are met.
  • Work closely with the applicable staff to manage and oversee the operations of all properties regardless of location;
  • Oversee all horse, gardening and ranch operations;
  • Coordinate weekly operations meetings, ensuring collaboration and open communication while confirming appropriate staff have the resources necessary;
  • Participate and assist with staff recruitment, discipline, mentoring, training, and skills development, etc.;
  • Recommend annual salary increases and incentives for staff;
  • Approve all staff hours, overtime, and vacation;
  • Approve expenditures and invoices;
  • Recommend approvals for capital and other expenditures;
  • Arrange and maintain insurance for all horse and ranch operations; and
  • Oversee the organization and execution of all social functions;

Working closely with the Viridian team (a key trusted service provider to the Group), ensuring the following areas are successfully monitored, controlled, and adjusted as required:

  • Budgetary control, through use of policy, forecasts, budgets, and financial statements;
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are implemented and operating effectively; and
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budgets for each Company and the consolidated budget for the Group.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree and relevant leadership experience;
  • Ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on services, entrepreneurship, and building and growing a strong business;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and family members;
  • Ability to respond effectively to changing priorities; and
  • Prior, proven experience in an Estate Manager role would be an asset.

  • Proficient with Excel and comfort with utilization of financial reporting for decision making;
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees;
  • Ability to work within deadlines; and
  • Excellent writing skills.
