Philanthropy Director

What You'll Do

- Build long-term client relationships and enhance existing relationships through quality client service, anticipating client needs, communication, client meetings and meeting/exceeding client service level standards, including assisting individual clients and families and prospects with charitable planning and planned giving options and private foundation management to enable them to have a long-term community impact as part of their legacy with wealth transfer.
- Responsible for identifying opportunities in the not-for-profit, private foundation and charitable trust market segment through direct prospecting, development of centers of influence (both internal and external) as referral sources, and development of networks with other key influencers resulting in new relationships at UMB.
- Collaborate with Director of Charitable Trusts and Foundations Administration as to fiduciary administration of charitable trusts and foundations, as well as the Institutional Team, handling the most complex situations in a team environment which through quality client service will lead to referrals for new business, upgrades in account status, direct sales and referrals for other bank products and services.
-Identify and develop tools to determine community impact to assist with client education and decision-making regarding grantmaking and community support.
- Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

- College degree required 
- 5 years of experience in not for profit or charitable trust and foundation management; technical charitable trust and foundation planning experience
- 5 years of experience working with high net worth families in the financial services or related industry

Preferred Requirements

- 8 plus years of experience in not for profit or charitable trust and foundation management; technical charitable trust and foundation planning and planned giving experience
- 8 plus years of experience working with high net worth families in the financial services or related industry
- One advanced degree (relative to planned giving, foundation/charitable trust management, financial & estate planning)
- Juris doctorate
- Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation

- Demonstrates extensive knowledge of not for profit and charitable trust and foundation management; technical charitable trust and foundation planning 
- Demonstrates ability to work with high net worth clients, including succession planning, mission statement development and family philanthropic development
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with an ability to develop and cultivate internal and external relationships
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; can verbalize and breakdown complex strategies in terms prospects/clients and internal partners understand 
- Demonstrates proven problem solving and dispute resolution
- Demonstrates ability to perform highly autonomous decision-making and inform management as needed
- Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrates high proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) 
- Demonstrates ability to maintain current knowledge of company policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations
