Manager, Trust Operations

Cozen O'Connor is seeking a Manager for its Trust Operations Department located in Philadelphia, PA. The Trust Operations Manager is expected to maintain a superior subject matter expertise in trust accounting reconciliation best practices, trust systems and trust operations, to manage the Department’s staff, and to have responsibility for the Department’s overall performance. The Manager will supervise a staff of 5 to 7. The Manager reports to the firm’s Director of Family Officer Services and will work with the Director to set the Department’s strategic goals, priorities and direction. The firm’s Trust Department maintains the books and records of 1,200 client trust accounts using FIS TrustDesk and Fifth Third Bank for omnibus custodial services. Responsibilities: • The Trust Operations Manager is responsible for balancing the Department’s cash, daily work, trust accounting system and bank-custody relationships in a way that is consistent with industry best practices standards. • The Manager must demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of cash and securities transaction posting. • The Manager must work to elevate the staff’s job performance through corrective action and industry training. • This role has elevated end-client visibility because the Manager is the last accuracy check-point for client trust account activity. • The Manager is expected to professionally, respectfully and effectively communicate within the Department and with the firm’s Attorneys and Paraprofessionals. • The Manager must demonstrate hands-on and supervised responsibilities in the following areas: End of Day Blotter, Batching Daily Work, Documenting Daily Trust Cash Activity, End of Day Trust Cash Recon, Blotter Review & Approval, Weekly Full Asset Recon (units & cash), Research & Approval, Daily DDA (outstanding checks), Securities Settlement, Movement and Control activity, Daily File Maintenance Review, Review New Account Set-up, Review New Security Set-up, Supervise Vault Activity, Review Account Closing, Provide Department Training, Participate in the Writing and Creation of Department Procedures and other related functional areas. • The Manager may be asked to work on special projects. • The Manager is expected to configure the Department’s trust accounting system, including the administration of user-access right. Minimum Qualifications: • At least 7 years of Trust Operation experience (FIS TrustDesk experience is highly desired) • Supervisor experience • Bachelors in Business, Finance, or other related field preferred • Attention to detail, analytical skills and strong organizational skills essential • Professional communication both written and verbal • Ability to work professionally with attorneys, staff and vendors Ranked among the top 100 law firms in the country, Cozen O’Connor has more than 750 attorneys in 27 cities across two continents.
