Manager of Human Resources

CLIENT

Our client is headquartered in San Francisco and is a well-established single-family office.

The family’s wealth is the result of highly successful businesses, as well as a significant diverse portfolio of investment and business holdings.

The family encompasses three generations with the G1 parents working actively with their G2 adult children to empower and encourage G2’s continued involvement in all phases of the family office leadership. From investment management and oversight…to tax and estate planning…to accounting and financial planning…to philanthropy and charitable giving…to supporting the individual business and investment initiatives of family members…to lifestyle management and wealth education – this family office is methodically and deliberately preparing for the eventual family succession realities, both in terms of wealth transfer and family office leadership.

A largely “in-house” model, the family office provides the investment, financial management, and operational oversight for a large, highly complex multi-entity and investment structure including trusts (domestic and foreign) and business entities (primarily limited liability companies). In addition, the family office provides financial services to three separate private family foundations, the missions of which support innovative social change and social justice globally.

The family office is collaborative, highly functioning, efficient and well organized, and is comprised of a team of 30 employees across the following functional / service delivery areas:

  • Accounting and reporting
  • Tax planning and reporting
  • Finance, financial analysis and reporting
  • Trust and estate planning, reporting, compliance and administration
  • Foundation planning, reporting, compliance and administration
  • Investment structuring, planning, reporting and management
  • Legal and risk management
  • Technology

The family also utilizes a broad array of external resources including trust and estate attorneys, investment advisors, tax CPAs, and foundation and human resources consultants.

OPPORTUNITY

The Manager of Human Resources (MHR) role is a new position that is being created due to the continued growth of the family office.

Reporting to the Director of Operations & Client Relations (DOCR), with dotted line responsibility to the Executive Management Team, you will support the family office by providing hands-on leadership across all areas of Human Resource Management including employment policies and procedures; talent management; benefits administration; compensation and incentives administration; training and education; performance management, assessment and discipline; and risk management.

The DOCR is looking to partner with you on a strategic and tactical basis and to provide advice, counsel, and execution on the many Human Resources initiatives that you will be overseeing.

In this “hands-on, roll up your sleeves” role, you will engage directly with Senior Management to solidify the vision for the human resources management function and then execute on that vision going forward.

In addition, you will work collaboratively with the family office team to support the ongoing strategic and operational initiatives of the family office, as well as to strive to instill a “best practices” philosophy in all functional areas to improve workflow, simplify reporting procedures, and enhance service delivery to the Family.

Finally, in addition to the human resource skills and experience outlined below, our Client is seeking a family office professional who fits in to the office culture and aligns with their core values including respect, compassion, integrity, loyalty, hard work, transparency and inclusiveness.
