Job Description:

FE, LLC is a single-family office that provides comprehensive wealth management services to multiple generations of a globally recognized and ever growing family.  FE is seeking to hire an experienced professional to join its Investment Operations, Portfolio Accounting and Reporting team. 

 

The principal function of this role will be to drive and enhance operational productivity, efficiency and data integrity across all aspects of FE’s investment operations.  This professional will ultimately be responsible for monitoring and maintaining all of our client-family portfolio accounting data, as well as overseeing money manager and client level performance measurement and reporting.  This professional will also be responsible for managing the production and generation of comprehensive wealth management reporting packages for each client-family, while collaborating with other cross-functional teams within the office. 

 

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership skills, possess knowledge of various portfolio reporting software applications and systems applicable to wealth management organizations (e.g. RIA, single or multi-family offices), have experience administering and overseeing pooled investment vehicles and bring a vast knowledge and understanding of the investment trading and other transactional activities relevant to a wealth management operational environment. Finally, this candidate should have experience acting as a liaison with various leading financial custodians and broker-dealer institutions.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

This professional will be involved in both evaluating/refining/upgrading the current software and technology used by the Investment Operations, Portfolio Accounting & Reporting Team and the workflow processes surrounding investment accounting, performance reporting, and client-family wealth management report preparation.  Possessing a general understanding of the operational intricacies associated with the implementation of various wealth management strategies for our clients will also be paramount. 

 

This professional will assist in defining key processes for the oversight of portfolio accounting and reporting for both existing and new pooled investments. 

 

Other key duties will include the following:

 

  • Collaborate with investment operations team to provide oversight of the day to day operation of the firm's portfolio accounting and reporting activities
  • Research and perform due diligence of software and technology solutions appropriate for investment advisory firm or family office
  • Implement staff training for new technology in the firm
  • Assist with defining processes and workflow of portfolio accounting operations for pooled vehicle accounting and investment performance reporting
  • Oversee and implement special projects such as enhancement to wealth management reporting, as well as the implementation and execution of strategic planning strategies
  • Serve as subject matter expert to troubleshoot and resolve errors related to portfolio accounting
  • Oversee generation of wealth management meeting reporting, including portfolio review, asset allocation and capital sufficiency reports.
  • Oversee client portfolio implementation and rebalancing
  • Implement cash/security transfers (including capital calls, distributions, tax and bill payments); review private investment subscription documents
  • Work with other family office departments to improve firm processes and efficiency, and develop new client reports
  • Monitor settlement process and custodian activity; ensure timely and accurate handling and record of investment transactions.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and communication of policies and restrictions
  • Oversee daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and reconciliations of portfolio valuations and performance for pooled vehicles and separately managed accounts.
  • Assist with facilitation of external audit testing to ensure financial reporting and valuation controls are effective.
  • Manage all custodial relationships
  • Expert in investment performance reporting or analysis, with thorough understanding of investment return calculation and interpretation of results
  • Perform quality control on portfolio returns and statistics
  • Develop procedures, improve workflow, embrace automation
  • Oversee coordination of daily, monthly and quarterly report production by team members

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of related operational experience with investment firm, financial service organization, single/multi-family office or RIA preferred.
  • Working knowledge of operational issues associated with multi-asset class portfolios, including hedge funds and private partnerships (private equity, venture capital, etc.) and experience administering or managing pooled vehicles/investment partnerships for both liquid and illiquid asset classes  
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail required
  • Self-starter, dedicated, team player
  • Excellent time-management skills and a detail-oriented method of working
  • Strong personal code of conduct that emphasizes accountability and approaching challenges with enthusiasm as well as initiative
  • Absolute confidentiality on all matters relating to office and client matters
  • Proficiency in AXYS/Advent is helpful, as well as knowledge of other current and emerging wealth management accounting and performance reporting systems
