JOB DESCRIPTION – FINANCIAL PLANNER
FINANCIAL INVESTMENTS CORPORATION (FIC)
Well established Chicago family office seeks accounting and finance professional to become an additional financial planner on our client service team. This individual will work on all aspects of financial management, associated implications of private equity deal transactions, and related cash management activities for G1, G2, and G3 members of three family lines (currently serving 25 separate family units and growing). Individual should have strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as detail orientation to manage financial reporting, accounting, and tax functions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage client relationships and provide financial planning services to family office clients, including working with next generation (G3) family members as they become standalone clients.
• Review internally-prepared quarterly meeting materials.
• Conduct quarterly meetings with family members, including reviewing a full net worth statement, cash flow projections, and investment purchase & sale information for individuals and entities.
• Provide private equity investment updates to family members on existing deals, and recommend appropriate investment amounts for new deals.
• Manage cash flows for multiple individuals and entities, and their corresponding investments.
• Assist in the management and oversight of two family office analysts.
• Participate in estate planning process, including advising on existing entities/initiatives, as well as discussions involving the creation of new entities and/or use of other wealth transfer techniques.
• Assist with tax compliance and planning for individuals and trusts with outside tax accountants.
• Provide client follow up and other support to the three senior financial planners in the office.
• Interact with external family advisors, including bankers, attorneys, and accountants.
REQUIREMENTS
• BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
• Certified Financial Planner (CFP) required
• Minimum of 5 years of direct financial planning experience, which must include running client meetings independently
• Proficient computer skills, including well-versed in the use of Microsoft Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including effective presentation capabilities
