Family Office Finance/Accounting Manager
A multi-generational Family on Long Island whose business is developing and expanding is seeking to hire a Family Office Finance/Accounting Manager. This position will interact directly with Family Members as this role is integral to their business and personal affairs. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for all family related finance, accounting and reporting. As with all family office related roles, the tasks will vary and constantly change. Discretion is critical, and confidentiality is a requirement for this position.
Responsibilities
- Maintain day-to-day general ledger functions
- Establish appropriate charts of account
- Analyze transactions, ensuring proper documentation & preparation of journal entries
- Review all GL postings
- Prepare bank, investment and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare and/or review monthly and periodic ad hoc reports such as:
- Investment/Liquidity schedules
- Dividends & distributions to/from related entities
- Marketable securities
- Summary of proposed transactions
- Intra-family Loan schedules
- Financial Statements for all entities
- Combining statements, as necessary
- Personal financial statements, as appropriate
- Coach and develop staff as appropriate
- Monitor activity in bank accounts to ensure adequate funding
- Liaise with all banks to ensure timely and efficient processing of transactions
- Respond to Family members’ requests for assistance and information
- Work independently and as part of a team on miscellaneous projects as needed
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
- 5+ years relevant experience
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
