Family Office Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting.  This position directly manages the accounting staff to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.  This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year end audit preparation, financial reporting, and the support of budget and forecast activities.  The Accounting Manager will have contact with senior-level executives and must have strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

Major Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Manage the completion of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end closes
  • Manage the production of accurate and timely quarterly and year end financial statements
  • Assist and support budget and forecasting activities
  • Provide information to and coordinate scheduling with tax team for tax return preparation
  • Monitor and analyze department work and assist in development of efficient procedures and use of resources to enhance the workflow of the accounting team
  • Provide training and mentoring to staff as needed
  • Work with each direct report to establish annual goals and objectives; monitor and advise on their progress to advance the professional development of staff
  • Assist Controller and other senior-level executives with special projects
  • Monitor internal and external loan activity

Experience Requirements

  • Accounting degree with CPA required
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
  • Minimum 7 years relevant work experience with at least 2 years in public accounting

  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
