JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:  Director of Operations

REPORTS TO:  CFO

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides the leadership, management and vision to ensure the Firm’s operations team has proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, people and systems to ensure proper financial reporting necessary to effectively grow the organization.  Manage and direct accounting for investment partnerships including bookkeeping, audit and tax reporting and compliance with regulatory rules.  The Director of Operations will lead the project to implement a new client reporting system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Work well with the Firm’s partners and client relationship teams to ensure that CMWA provides high level client service to all clients.   

  • Insure sufficient cross-training among operations personnel                                                                             
  •      Lead the project to implement a new client reporting system
  • Evaluate CMWA’s needs and then recommend to management an appropriate client reporting system
  • Oversee the project with direct reports as well as management
  • Be the main contact with the vendor(s)
  • Set the timeline for implementation, monitor and report achievements and milestones to management
  •        Investment Partnership Accounting review and maintenance
  • Coordinate outside auditors and tax professionals and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Coordinate with various providers including custodial banks and investment managers
  • Contact with clients’ outside tax preparers and accountants
  •       Supervise Operations Team (4.5 FTE)

Essential team responsibilities:

     Bookkeeping and accounting for investment partnerships

  • Processing and reporting of private equity capital calls and distributions
  • Monthly pricing of partnerships
  • Foundation accounting and recordkeeping; cash management; payroll and benefits processing
  • Trading in client/partnership accounts
  • Client and partnership transactions
  • Reconciliation of client statements
  • Reconciliation of investment manager statements
  • Client billing
  • Manager fee verification and payment
  • Preparation of quarterly client statements/portfolio summaries
  • New client intake and custodial account paperwork
  • Documentation of client investments in CMWA partnerships including subscription documents, assignment agreements, etc. 
  • Preparation of data/reports for foundation tax returns
  • Other prescribed tasks and duties as required

 

Skills required

CPA

Excellent computer skills - MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)

Accounting software proficiency

Advanced partnership accounting and tax knowledge

Strong communication and leadership skills

Salary is commensurate with skill level
