THE ROLE:

We are an early-stage family office, managing a diversified portfolio of investments across multiple asset classes, including real estate, private equity, and venture capital. Our primary focus is on generating sustainable long-term returns while also making a positive impact on society.

As the hybrid Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer you will be the right hand family office operating partner to our incredibly driven and entrepreneurial founder and CEO.  You will bring your own entrepreneurial energy, excited and driven to evaluate and propose new investment opportunities. Operating in a complex, fast moving, and very ambitious environment, you will lead a number of functions and will balance the requirement to be very hands on but also highly strategic, attracting, deploying, retaining, and invigorating corporate strategy and structure.

In this long term growth focused role, you will be responsible for overseeing the family office structure with a financial and strategic eye. You will build out the family office structure, understanding the short term and long term objectives and goals. You know what’s required to achieve our long term vision and how to challenge status-quo to get there. Your passion for finding, evaluating and investing in new business opportunities and growth areas will be a key success factor for this role. Further, your due diligence in ensuring low risk high return will drive the family business forward. In addition to the new investments, your previous leadership experience in land development and construction projects and managing/upgrading other physical assets  will ensure our current portfolio continues to flourish. Experience working with first generation wealth to build out the family office and investment portfolio to success will be a strong asset in this role.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the family office from a financial and operational lens, including the oversight of multiple properties, development projects and investment portfolios

  • Build and grow the investment portfolio, seeking out and conducting thorough due diligence on potential investment opportunities, ensuring that all investments are properly monitored and managed.

  • Manage the current investment portfolio, providing long term chess game strategy on how to enhance what is currently in play

  • Manage the current land development projects, evaluating the current development plans, optimizing and challenging budgets and timelines building successful and exponential value in complex markets 

  • Lead the land development team in identifying and executing on additional real estate development opportunities.

  • Set the 12 - 24 month look ahead for the family office, mapping out the quarterly and annual financial and operational goals to drive performance and growth, managing the team to successful completion.

  • Prepare weekly reports on the family office’s investment performance and activities against targets.

  • Design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures.

  • Develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts and financial models to ensure the organization is meeting its financial goals.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and service providers.

  • Establish connections to additional professional contractors when needed, harbor and build relationships under the family name

  • Manage all insurance policy renewals, premium payments, and sourcing of additional coverage as required and as requirements change

  • Provide full suite of tax coordination across all full households and entities to ensure timely payments of all taxes owed

  • Set and manage the overall family office budget and strategy, leading a team of senior functional area professionals to adhere to objectives while delivering exemplary service to principals on a global scale. 

  • Leading the human capital development through the family office including staffing, culture and driving delivery on performance objectives and KPI’s. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Proven experience working with/for a fast paced first generation principal and thriving within that space is a strong plus for this role.  

  • Desire to grow with the family office and it builds its AUM through returns and portfolio growth and divestitures. 

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred

  • +10 years experience working with a UHNW family in a financial leadership capacity

  • +10 years experience in investment management with a proven track record of generating strong returns across multiple asset classes.

  • +10 years experience with leading and overseeing profitable land acquisition and development projects including acquisition of land, building and managing of teams, managing projects to budget, financing where required,  and ultimately creating profitable divestitures.    

  • +5 years experience building an investment portfolio.

  • +5 years experience managing multiple FO residences and their support staff including overseeing the entirety of the service function 

  • +5 years experience with overseeing the budgets and projects for land development and construction, ensuring they stay on track and optimizing costs where possible

  • +5 years thriving in a fast paced environment within an executive capacity

  • A strong understanding of global tax and company structures, advising, implementing and managing

  • Previous experience overseeing the financial implications and opportunities for yachts, cars and planes

  • Strong financial acumen with the proven ability to develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts and financial models to the CEO or Board

  • Experience working for/partnering with the founder to manage and organize teams for peak performance in a multi-business structure

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and internal stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute on plans to achieve business goals

  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Organized and meticulous – Capable of capturing the details without missing the big picture 

  • Self-starter – Unafraid of tackling a problem without explicit, step-by-step direction and motivated to drive to a solution

  • Project management skills, Gantt charts, pert, timelines, official project management and project portfolio management experience

  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft O365, G Suite, MAC, et al., and implementing technology to make the team more efficient and effective

  • Highly adaptable; brings stability, structure, and profitability to a dynamic environment

  • Emotionally grounded: strong EQ (emotional intelligence) and emotional control; knows how to manage varying personalities and environments; hustle mentality with strong endurance but is self-managing with their time 

Compensation: 

This role is a business partner level role. You will be compensated with a strong base, aggressive bonus plan, and lucrative upside plan based on project and/or investment profitability under your control.
