Associate Director of Tax Strategy

The Associate Director of Tax Strategy’s responsibilities would reach across several departments within the firm.  One of the core functions of the role would be to develop and enhance our existing research on tax efficiency and integrate the research into the various groups within Cambridge Associates.  The Associate Director would also serve as an internal tax resource, bridging the knowledge gap between investment and tax considerations and would also work to improve our understanding of trust structures and estate planning. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Guide consultants on the creation of an investment portfolio to meet estate planning needs.  The Associate Director will play a key role in educating consultants on specific client situations such as establishing a foundation or setting up trusts or partnership structures and the resulting investment implications
  • Update private wealth consultants on tax developments to keep C|A current with evolving legislative and fiscal policies in countries in which our taxable clients reside
  • Collaborate with our various research departments to identify, evaluate and monitor fund managers with tax efficient, tax sensitive and tax aware investment approaches/vehicles across asset classes
  • Further refine our understanding of how tax efficiency will impact portfolio construction
  • Lead other special projects related to the private wealth practice

Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess the CPA designation and a minimum of 5 years of experience at a major accounting firm, and/ora Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with preferred experience in estate planning, or another advanced degree
  • The ideal candidate will have significant experience working on trust structures and estate planning strategies
  • Understanding and experience working with partnership accounting/taxation a plus 
  • Must be able to work independently and in teams
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
