Ascent Senior Managing Director, Strategic Relationships

Ascent Private Capital Management of U.S. Bank exclusively serves ultra-high net worth (UHNW) clients with net worth in excess of $75MM. The Senior Managing Director, Strategic Relationships operates as the strategic and tactical leader of Ascent’s business development group. This person is responsible for the creation of a national business development strategy in partnership with the Ascent Regional Offices (ARO). The SMD, SR will provide insight, direction, leadership and support for the growth of Ascent through developing partnerships within Private Wealth, U.S. Bank and external Centers of Influence (COIs).

 

This position will collaborate closely with the Ascent Regional Offices to promote Ascent both within U.S. Bank and externally. Within U.S. Bank, channels include Private Wealth Management (serving clients with less than $75MM), the commercial bank (and other internal bank groups) and the community bank. External COIs include estate planning attorneys, accounting firms, family offices and other providers to UHNW clients. This individual will be responsible for creating and managing a strategic partnership team and sales process to those channels. S/he will be involved in creating individualized messaging to each of the channels incorporating Ascent’s mission and values. The SMD, SR reports to the President, is a member of Ascent’s Senior Leader Group, and works collaboratively with the Ascent Regional Office team members. The person in this role often serves as a strategic partner collaborating with U.S. Bank’s Wealth Management partners and executives to create and drive a ‘One U.S. Bank’ vision.

 

Proven experience leading high-performing teams within a professional service firm or in the financial services industry is required. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have prior experience building relationships in the UHNW market.

 

This candidate will be required to foster a culture of service, flexibility and excitement in supporting the front offices. S/he should be proficient at building partnerships and camaraderie, and willing to re-evaluate strategic processes. The ideal candidate will bring the experience and leadership skills necessary to create a culture of trust and thrive as the leader of a diverse team of accomplished professionals.

 

Essential Responsiblities:

  • Manage the Strategic Relations group through leadership, mentoring, modeling, defining vision, business operations and priorities.
  • Create partnerships within Ascent (primarily the AROs) and with internal and external referral sources.
  • Identify and prioritize key deliverables for the Strategic Relations team and set direction to support growth of the regional offices.
  • Create and manage a sales process that identifies/refers qualified Ascent prospects to the AROs and assists the AROs through the process.
  • Manage the prospect pipelines.
  • As an executive in Ascent, participate in Senior Leader Group meetings/discussions.
  • Provide expertise and support to staff while working closely with the President of Ascent to create a new strategic vision that keeps Ascent ahead of the curve.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively manage a team of professionals with varying backgrounds and expertise while balancing the needs of clients, employees, and the organization.
  • Broad strategic thinker, able to effectively promote and integrate internal and external resources and services using innovative approaches.
  • Ability to forge strong partnerships within Ascent, within U.S. Bank and with external COIs.
  • Minimum 15+ years’ experience working within the financial services industry, specifically wealth management.
  • Degree required, advanced degree preferable; other professional designations recommended (CPA, CFP, CFA, PCC, MCC, CFBA etc.).
  • Track record as an inspiring leader who has a proven success in creating growth in the wealth management industry.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable navigating corporate culture, compliance and legal requirements.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and motivational skills.
