Accounting Supervisor

 

A St. Louis-based, single-family office, the Taylor Family Office (TFO), seeks an Accounting Supervisor to oversee the office’s accounting functions.  The principle responsibilities of this position are to lead and manage the offices accounting processes and systems, manage entity financial reporting,  provide administrative oversight of all tax preparation and compliance through third-party subject matter experts, and direct and supervise all office bill pay systems and procedures.  In addition, this position will be responsible for driving process codification and improvement across all accounting functions.  We seek an individual who is organized, detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and has an analytical mindset.  Alignment with the family’s values of respect, fairness and integrity are required as is absolute discretion.

Responsibilities

Accounting and Bill Payment

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations for the Family Office and all related entities
  • Manage the Office’s Sage Intacct accounting system and prepare/review all period end journal entries.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations
  • Oversee the codification of all accounting processes.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with liquidity planning/projections for each entity.
  • Process money movement requests by check, ACH, wire, or journal of assets
  • Prepare or supervise the disbursements on behalf of individuals and related entities (i.e., payroll, accounts payable, capital contributions, maintain Sage Intacct).
  • Maintain family members’ transaction detail and supporting documentation utilizing Sage Intacct
  • Review all bills and related documents and oversee the process for timely payment on behalf of family members and entities

 Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for individual family members, business entities, foundations, and the family office.
  • Prepare quarterly summary of charitable giving by family members and foundations.
  • Prepare, in coordination with the Director of Finance, an aggregated overview of assets including a summary of assets held, fees, and risk exposure.
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting for family and/or entities as necessary

Tax Preparation

  • Provide coordination and administrative oversight of all family, entity, and office related tax returns through third-party subject matter experts.
  • Ensure that all records from internal and external sources are properly maintained and reconciled for information to be timely available for tax and regulatory compliance requirements, legal requirements, and analysis as needed.
  • Download & gather data from external resources as needed to maintain records
  • Provide timely updates of tax status to management

Process Management and Improvement

  • Document bill payment, accounting processes and internal controls. Look for opportunities for improvement to make processes more efficient.
  • Drive productivity by standardizing work and creating & documenting efficient processes/procedures

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • 4+years of accounting experience preferably in a family office or small business setting
  • An ability to maintain a strictly confidential environment
  • Energetic self-starter with an extremely positive, can-do attitude
  • Strong working knowledge of general accounting principles and practices, cash basis and tax basis

Preferred:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Proficiency with Sage Intacct or like dimensional-based accounting system (e.g., NetSuite)
  • Proficiency with Bill.com and other financial reporting systems
  • Experience working with ultra-high net worth individuals
