About the Job

Private Single Family Office seeks an Accounting Specialist for their Connecticut location. The ideal candidate should have basic experience with business accounting routines. The position offers a unique life/work balance as the principal is your only client and there is no tax return preparation, since that function is outsourced to their CPA. The position also features a 4- day work week.

About the Owner

The owner oversees a range of business, financial and philanthropic interests. These interests are both national and international in scope. Additional information on these activities will be shared later in the interview process.

Duties And Responsibilities

Take ownership of key Accounting and Payroll processes including:

  • Post journal entries to maintain general ledgers for operating companies, trusts, and household (Quickbooks)
  • Prepare monthly and ad-hoc reports
  • Prepare year-end Accounting (Trial Balances, adjusting journal entries etc.)
  • Cash management
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Perform the Accounts Payable process including invoices, credit card statements and check runs
  • Collection and organization of client's year-end tax and supporting documentation (1099s, K-1s etc.)
  • Prepare and maintain information, analysis, and reports needed for tax return preparation
  • Make tax payments as calculated and prepared by outside Tax advisors
  • Perform Payroll processes bi-weekly
  • Manage Benefits
  • Liase closely with Payroll and benefits providers

Skills And Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Accounting required.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience required.
  • Quickbooks proficiency required.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with Payroll and Benefits processing.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently utilizing technical skills, shows initiative and professional judgment.
  • Confidentiality and discretion of utmost importance.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and analytical thinking skills required.
  • Works well collaboratively in a small team environment.
  • Must be willing to work ON SITE full time.

Compensation

  • Salary of $125,000 but can be increased depending on experience
