AI-Based Digital Marketing for Purpose, CSR, and ESG

Overview

Who We Are

Since more than 80% of US consumers identify as values-driven, social purpose is now key to brand-building and business strategy. Public Good is a digital marketing platform that provides a unique way for brands to engage their customers around cause, purpose, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) by empowering people to take action based on the issues they read about in the news.

For example, if you were on your favorite news site reading an article about the freezing temperatures in Texas, you’d then see a unit sponsored by Mountain Dew inviting you to support Team Rubicon in getting help to the people affected by the disaster. Or if you were reading about school closures due to Covid, you’d be able to work alongside Nestle to get meals to kids who depend on open schools for basic nutrition.

This association of news and action creates powerful moments and interactions between people and brands resulting in impact, positive sentiment towards the brand, and, ultimately, increased market share. And since Public Good uses proprietary, best-in-class AI to connect relevant content with corporate purpose programs, it is as scalable as digital advertising but with much higher performance (and it’s completely privacy friendly.)

Traction

Since its commercial launch in the end of 2018, Public Good is now in use by more than a dozen Fortune 500 brands including Unilever, Microsoft, Danone, Clorox, Nestle, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, UBS, and Mars. We’ve run programs on issues ranging from sustainability, homelessness, and hunger to opioid addiction, voter registration, and vaccine safety. Our technology is integrated with leading news publishers from CNN and Meredith to HuffPost and Vice. Our technology has been featured in two peer-reviewed papers with Bloomberg Data4Good.

Round

We are raising a round to continue developing our technology, scale our sales and marketing efforts, and enter new verticals including pharmaceuticals, automotive, and retail.

Our family co-founded Public Good and has been the largest investor to date. Dan Ratner is the CEO. We have soft-circled commitments from existing investors as well as a digital marketing legend, Michael Kassan of MediaLink. We are seeking aligned investors who are excited about the intersection of purpose and profit.

Hear from our co-founder and customers in this 4 minute highlight video of our keynote at the Reuters Responsible Business Summit 2020.

About the Family

The Ratner family cofounded Forest City Enterprises (formerly FCE.a) and grew it into a Global 2000 Company with over $10 billion in real estate under development and management until it was sold to Brookfield Properties in 2018. The family has remained entrepreneurial, launching new ventures in real estate as well as doing venture capital investing through our family office, RMS Investment Group. Our branch of the family, headed by Mark Ratner, a beloved Northwestern professor and National Academy of Sciences member, is particularly involved in science and technology. We’ve written two books together about nanotechnology and launched a previous successful tech company, Sittercity.com, the leader in online childcare. Sittercity was sold to Bright Horizons Family Solutions in 2020.
