The Company addresses the problem of machine vision in the context of automotive, industrial automation, robotics and AR/VR. The solution it developed is based on a paradigm change: instead of processing a scene frame by frame (like Mobileye, or traditional frame-based cameras do), it processes only events – i.e. it detects only changes in images.

By switching from a frame based logic to an event based logic, the Company can achieve computer vision in much more efficient way (e.g.: one of the use cases assessed by Apple shows that the Company needs 100 time less data to analyse a given scene) and reliable way (e.g.: better robustness to challenging lighting conditions). The underlying principle mimics human vision, where the retina pre-filters the acquired data points to send only relevant information to the brain. 

The Company is raising a series C to commercialise its 4th and 5th generation of chips. It is backed by a group of institutional investors and partnering with the leading incumbent player in the camera market to fastrack its commercial development & production. 

Based over its due diligence results, SPDG has decided to commit 4m EUR and is looking for a co-investors to lead the round.
