Family Office Exchange (FOX) is pleased to offer the Rising Gen Leadership Program Series for the preparation of future family leaders. This four-part learning series uses a multi-disciplinary approach to help Rising Generation family members become prepared, informed, credible, and contributing leaders to the family enterprise.

Each standalone program is designed to arm future family leaders with the skills needed to thrive in life, business, and wealth stewardship with an emphasis on empowering attendees and equipping them with a leadership toolkit for the future. Each course within the two-day program covers essential building blocks for family leadership preparation and is part of an overall core curriculum presented at each gemstone branded program.

Additionally, this series offers a peer community like no other that allows Rising Generation family members to have honest and informative conversations that address their unique questions related to family, business, and leadership.

What to Expect

  • An opening session focused on creating a peer community and group cohesiveness.

  • Deep connection to the content through practical application and experiential activities.

  • Pre-work and reading prior to attendance.

  • Attendance is required both days. Full participation and engagement are program expectations. 

Who Should Attend

Registration for the FOX Rising Gen Leadership Program is open to family members in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. Limited spaces are available as this program is intended to provide an intimate experience that fosters connection among peers.

    Registrations are subject to approval by FOX. For family members in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, who are aspiring leaders within their family enterprise.

    REFUND POLICY: For event registrations, refunds of payment or forum allotments will be offered if the cancellation is made in writing to Family Office Exchange at events@familyoffice.com five (5) or more business days prior to the start of the event.     Field of Study: Specialized Knowledge - Up to 6 CPE credits can be earned by attending this event. CPE credits are accepted at the option of state certifying boards. Requirements, compliance procedures and acceptance may vary by state.

    Learning Objectives: Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to describe professional boardroom practices, implement tactics to disarm tension and build common ground, concisely communicate in a family setting, and navigate most complex family relationships in a healthy and empowered way.

    Family Office Exchange is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. It is difficult for anyone to sustain a healthy level of objectivity with family members because we have an authentic view in their strengths, weaknesses and idiosyncrasies.     Having impact in the family as a member of the rising generation is sometimes met with challenges. Trying to navigate the authority of the leadership generation while also working to bring your own voice, and those of your generation, to the table can be difficult. The art of effective communication is key to being an impactful leader. This means practicing active listening and being able to “read the room.” Crafting a clear and concise message enables you to be understood and heard. These skills, combined with strong emotional intelligence, can help you move into an influential role within your family.

    Members of successful families are recognizing the role governing boards play in the preservation of their family enterprise. Having well-organized governance systems to promote family unity is pivotal. No matter your family’s size or current structure, this course provides a foundational understanding of professional boardroom practices. This includes ways to establish clear expectations for board members and a clear understanding of required behavior and protocol. We will explore behaviors that indicate board readiness so that you walk into your first board meeting equipped for success and impact.

    Presenters

    Elle Hansen
    Managing Partner, REGENERATION

    Elle Hansen is a family business consultant with rich experience in privately held domestic and international companies. As a senior consultant and managing partner for REGENERATION, her primary focus is on helping client firms establish best practices that prevent breakdowns and improve relationships inside family businesses. Elle specializes in family business systems, communication, and governance. As an executive coach, Elle works with individuals to recognize and achieve their potential personally and professionally. Elle serves as the lead consultant for development and training of emerging leaders, and facilitates educational seminars across the country. Elle leads family gatherings tailored to providing a unique family experience combining business and bonding. 

    Prior to joining REGENERATION, Elle was the director of OEM sales and project management for family enterprise, Matrix Shafts, and in the composites division of Fujikura, one of the largest international firms in the world. Elle has served as the vice president for Baxter Elevator, a Dallas-based family firm.

    Elle received her degree in psychology with a minor in business administration from Cal State University. Elle played collegiate volleyball and basketball, and is passionate about athletics today. Elle is an avid reader and world traveler.

     

    Marianne Young
    FOX Partner and Industry Thought Leader

    Marianne spent almost 24 years contributing her leadership, insight and financial expertise to helping families and to the success of Market Street Trust Company, a family office founded by the extended-Houghton Family. During her 19+ plus tenure as President and CEO, she was responsible for all aspects of the family office and with her team employed a strategy of continuous improvement and slow, measured growth. She oversaw the management of client relationships for individual, trust and foundation accounts, and in addition to working with the Board of Directors on strategic issues, she facilitated financial and estate planning for individuals and family groups. She also advised several family foundations and has expertise in intergenerational wealth transfer strategies, family office management, succession planning and governance for families and their businesses.

    Before joining Market Street, Marianne practiced law at Harris, Beach & Wilcox, where she focused on corporate and banking law. She received a B.A. Degree from Mount Holyoke College and an M.S. Ed. from the University of Rochester. She also holds a J.D. Degree from Cornell Law School where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and Order of the Coif. 

    Marianne is currently a Director of the Elmira Savings Bank where she sits on the Loan and Audit and Compliance Committees and of Lineage Trust Company, serving on the Trust and Investment Committee.  She is one of the founders and directors of the Alternative School for Math and Science, a middle school in Corning, New York; she is currently President and a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee. She is also a Trustee of the Corning Museum of Glass where she serves on the Executive and Governance Committees and a member of the President’s Council for the Finger Lakes Land Trust. Marianne is a member and Director of the Collaboration for Families Flourishing. She has served on the Family Office Exchange Advisory Board, the Finger Lakes Land Trust Board and is a past President of the Board of Trustees of the Rockwell Museum and the Corning Community College Development Foundation. 

    Marianne lives with her husband in Upstate New York, and they have three wonderful adult sons and two amazing daughter-in-laws.

    Mindy Earley is Chief Learning Officer for Family Office Exchange. In her role, she works to foster integrated learning programs for enterprise families and is responsible for developing the family learning community. She provides support to the Family Learning and Experience Council and FOX Family Learning Network. Mindy is inspired by helping people learn, grow and discover the way that they will make personal and productive contributions, using their strengths and talents.

    Mindy has held various roles in small and large family offices and has been responsible for creating and stewarding professional learning networks in support of human and intellectual capital. She has designed learning experiences that increase the knowledge base and enhance the life path of individuals while providing personalized support and coaching to help them meet their goals.

     

    Jeff Strese
    Family Learning & Leadership Consultant

    Jeff Strese is the Family Learning & Leadership Consultant for Family Office Exchange. As a consultant, Jeff has focused on multi-generational family enterprises, corporations, and mission-driven nonprofit organizations. He has more than 25 years of experience working across industries in the areas of leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and family dynamics. He holds certifications in family wealth and family business advising (CFWA, CFBA).

    Jeff is passionate about helping family businesses and organizations create clarity out of the complex and inspiring leaders from all backgrounds to develop and master critical skills like coaching, communication and emotional intelligence. He has developed innovative programs to guide next-generation leaders to reach their full potential in a fast-paced, global economy.

    Jeff has served as Chief Talent and Learning Officer (CTLO) at Tolleson Wealth Management, a multi-family office serving client families across the country. Prior to his role at Tolleson, Jeff served as the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Southern Methodist University (SMU).
