Jean Joseph, Managing Director of Owl Rock Capital Partners, will discuss the status of the global markets in the context of the credit cycle and some signs pointing to a need for caution in today’s market. Mr. Joseph will then delve into the credit markets specifically, identifying some unique characteristics of the rally that support his firm’s more cautious view. He will conclude with areas of opportunity in today’s challenging macro environment.

    Jean Joseph is a Managing Director and member of the Investment Management team at Owl Rock. Prior to joining Owl Rock in 2018, Mr. Joseph spent twelve years at Goldman Sachs & Co. where he was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager in its Investment Management Division (“IMD”) responsible for the management of the division’s syndicated leveraged loan strategies including onshore mutual fund structures, offshore fund structures, collateralized loan obligations and separate accounts.

    Previously, Mr. Joseph was a member of the firm’s Leveraged Finance group within the Investment Banking Division (“IBD”) with a focus on originating, structuring, and executing syndicated leveraged loans, high yield bond, and debt private placements relating to mergers, acquisitions, recapitalizations and expansion opportunities for corporate clients and private equity sponsors across various industries. Preceding Goldman Sachs, Mr. Joseph was a member of the Wachovia Securities (currently Wells Fargo Securities) Leveraged Finance department, from 2003 to 2006, with a similar focus on originating, structuring and executing non-investment grade credit transactions.

    Earlier in his career, Mr. Joseph was a Senior Credit Analyst at GE Capital and Atherton Capital with a focus on middle-market lending. Mr. Joseph assumed these positions after completion of a two-year management development program with GE Capital.

    Mr. Joseph received a B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A., with honors, from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.
