There have been a number of significant rulings in the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Supreme Court this year regarding charitable contributions, the Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (“FBAR”) as well as Form 5471 – Information Return of the U.S. Persons with Respect to Certain Foreign Corporations. 

In this FOX webcast, specialists from BDO’s National Tax Office will discuss the implication of these cases on family offices and ultra-high net worth individuals in addition to reviewing some of the other issues they commonly see when supporting such clients through challenging periods, including: 

  • Post-Mortem Tax Compliance
  • Audits by the Federal and State Taxing Authorities
  • Family Changes, Job Changes and Relocations
  • Immigration To or Expatriation from the U.S.

    Todd is BDO’s National Managing Partner of Tax Risk Management. As the Tax Risk 
    Management Partner, he is responsible for managing tax risk issues for the firm, 
    including tax return preparer issues, client-related practice issues, and reportable 
    transaction consulting. In addition, Todd oversees the tax practice’s Tax Controversy & Procedure practice, managing tax controversies and addressing questions of tax procedure. Todd also serves as the leader of our Tax Policy and Legislation practice, advising clients of the potential for legislative activity and the impact of changes in tax law.

    Prior to joining BDO, Todd was a member of the Tax Controversy & Risk Management Services practice of Ernst & Young, LLP. He also practiced law at White & Case LLP, where he assisted in the writing and production of Michael I. Saltzman’s IRS Practice and Procedure (Revised Second Edition).

    Additionally, Todd served as legislation counsel to the U.S. Congress Joint Committee on Taxation, as an associate with Blank Rome LLP, and as law clerk to U.S. Tax Court Judge Joel Gerber.

    Rosy is a managing director in the U.S. BDO Private Client Services National Tax Office and co-leads the firm’s Private Client Services International Tax Committee. She focuses on cross-border tax matters affecting high net worth individuals. Her areas of expertise include pre-immigration and expatriation tax planning, cross-border estate and gift tax matters, foreign trusts, tax treaties and other international agreements, and tax controversy.

    Prior to joining BDO, she worked on cross-border private client tax matters at a Big 4 accounting firm and spent over 13 years with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, where she last served as a Senior Technical Reviewer in the IRS Office of Associate Chief Counsel (International).
